The SME Chamber of India is looking for a potential research scholar for pursuing research under a project jointly planned by the SME Chamber of India and the University of Wales
The project is designated as UK-India SME Initiative.
The research projects under this initiative, on successful completion, will be eligible for conferment of the degree of PhD by the University of Wales. The research projects are expected to last from 18 to 24 months. The Project provides the Scholar not only an opportunity to complete a Doctorate with a reputed International University but also an opportunity to visit Wales and interact with scholars engaged in International projects.
The research work under the Initiative will focus on
1) Development of a collaborative model and an integrated knowledge transfer network to deliver economic value for the Indian SME sector embedding both sustainability and viability through an Open Innovation platform linking Higher Education (HE) and SME Chamber of India. The focus for the project in SME sector will be to identify and develop opportunities to expand activity, improving efficiency, harnessing new technologies and processes, and accessing new markets. This will involve scoping two way investment and other partnership opportunities while developing international knowledge networks.
2) Development of a methodology to gather the data for the development of the model and the required test and validation of the model to deliver economic value to SMEs through an Open Innovation linking Higher Education (HE) and SME Chamber of India
Scholar Profile
The candidate we are looking for should bring a suitable academic record and industry exposure,. He is expected to have an entrepreneurial approach to research; He must have a profile with the following attributes.
- Strong track record in relevant business/academic sector and discipline
- Appropriate academic background, providing scope for enrolment in research study
- Knowledge and understanding of SME sector
- Ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels within organisations in different territories
- Ability to work internationally
- Project management skills
- Ability to acquire new skills as required
- excellent writing skills
- commitment to the value of rigorous research
- Strong analytic, quantitative and qualitative skills;
- Ability to collaborate within a team and work independently..
- Existing engagement across the region and relevant stakeholders would be a significant advantage
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree from a recognised university /institution
- Experience with data analysis;
Age Limit: Below 40 years at the time of selection
Experience: Exposure to SME sector for at least 5 years.
This is an excellent opportunity for those engaged n SME sector/Financial sector /academia dealing with SMEs with a flair for research to develop strong academic credentials and relevant insights into the SME sector.
Financial Assistance: The Chamber will provide suitable stipend one Research Scholar in line with similar research fellowships in India. Preference will be given to SME practitioners with demonstrated academic /research interest.
Location of the Project: The Scholar will be based in Mumbai, India with opportunity to undertake short periods of work in Wales. It is anticipated that the Scholar can also be an existing employee/student within a stakeholder organisation with the requisite attributes and qualifications who can undertake the project activity as part of an existing role. This would allow existing knowledge and networks to become embedded within the initiative.
